Whole Wheat Pancakes with Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread

Hi ya everyone!  I hope everyone had a great weekend, and your Monday is going just as good!  My husband and I don't really get weekends right now.  He is working 7  12 hour shifts....UGH I know.  He is making it, and so am I.  This blogging really does take up a lot of time, but I really REALLY enjoy it.

This morning I made these yummy pancakes, and peanut butter chocolate spread, that just topped them off.  I usually ALWAYS spread peanut butter on my pancakes, waffles, and french toast.  This morning I was looking in my cupboard for something a little different...then I saw the cocoa powder.  I immediately thought peanut butter chocolate! Who doesn't like that combination?! Am I right, or am I right? :)  I grabbed the cocoa powder, peanut butter and away I went.  Here is the final picture atop the whole wheat pancakes that I will share with you also.
Whole Wheat Pancakes with Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread

MmmMmm this turned out really good!  I accidentally added quite a bit of syrup.  I was trying to take a picture while I was pouring the syrup, and it didn't work, just left me with  a lot on my plate!
This peanut butter chocolate spread is a nice change for your pancakes.  I am sure kids will love it, and us grown ups too!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread
Ingredients:(this makes enough for about 4 pancakes)
  • 2 tbls peanut butter.  I used creamy.
  • 1 tbls plus 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 tbls milk
Add the peanut butter and cocoa powder in a small dish.
Stir, the add honey. Stir together, and it will be a thick paste.
Add in the milk, and stir together to make a yummy spread!

Now to the pancakes!

Whole Wheat Pancakes
Ingredients:(makes 8 pancakes) I got this recipe here and changed one thing, and added an ingredient
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup low-fat buttermilk(I just used fat free milk)
  • 2 tbls honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla(my touch to the recipe)

Add whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in medium mixing bowl. Mix well.
In a separate smaller dish, add egg, milk, and honey. Whisk together.

Add egg mixture to the flour, and mix well.

Pour batter into a pan sprayed with cooking spray, in 1/4 cup scoops.  When bubbles show up all over the pancake, and edges brown a little, Flip.  Pancake doesn't need to cook quite as long on the other side.

I spread a little bit of butter on my bottom pancake, and then a thin layer of the peanut butter chocolate spread on the top pancake.

Drizzle with syrup and you are ready to eat! Bananas would be really good on these pancakes too! YUM!

Enjoy!

Question of the Day:

What do you normally top your pancakes, waffles or french toast with?

I love all of them covered in peanut butter, then syrup, but I also enjoy my waffles with a little butter and brown sugar sprinkled all over.  MmmMmm!
Have a great evening everyone, and I'll be here tomorrow! :)

  1. Every time I have waffles I top them with butter and brown sugar. Makes me think about high school when I use to stay at your house all the time:)
